A-side ,

This single was imported from the UK and got a sleeve
printed in Belgium. This is quite interesting as there
is a regular pressing of Parlez vous... from Belgium.
The catalogue number of the single is RCA PB 5588, the
sleeve does not have a catalogue number.

Fantasy Boy (Extended) / Technotronic:

This is a Korean bootleg pressing featuring 'Pump up the
Jam' on side B. The front of this 12" is the backside
of the original German 12". The cover is reproduced in
black and white only.
Call me Up (Special DJ-Mix) 5:03
/ Talisman 5:55
"Idee 1CK 052-156922-6"
Also a Korean bootleg pressing reproducing the German
12' single. The backside is black and white only.
I also include a scan of Maria Mendiola's solo album "Born
Again".
By the way, the version of the track 'Born Again' is totally
different from the version used on the dutch 7" single.
The single version has rock instrumentation using electric
guitar, the album version is fully electronic.
If anybody is interested in a digitally remastered/denoised
CD copy of Maria's solo album, I can offer copies including
a colour cover for 12 Euros each.
I'll also include Maria's non-album solo tracks (I wanna
see the world/Stupid cupid/Hit on the Radio/Aerobic/born
again alternative).

I'm glad your page is back.
Here are two Mayte-related web pages.
The first one is www.baccara.kulturiges.de.
It features some of the paintings by Mayte herself, which
will be showing this month (October 2002) in La Rioja,
Spain.

It is a page devoted to the new Baccara, by Mayte and
Cristina. It is currently under construction, so we'll

fantastic, but the recording (8) and mixing (12) is cruel
:(( It sounds like someone has made this songs on his
own computer ;)
Tracks 2,4,5,9 and 10 are the original songs, just with
new recorded voices.
Only "Cara Mia" is as a (superb) remake on this album...

Hi Roman
Does anyone realise that there is a new (sort of!) CD
out by Baccara (Maria & Marisa). It's a greatest hits
compilation, but there are 3 new songs on it. "Si si señor
(gimme more)", "Someday" and a version of Barbra Streisand's
song "Woman in love". There are also a couple of hit mixes,
one with new songs on it ("Cumbanchero", "Ay ay ay ay").
The other interesting thing is that the other hits use
the original backing tracks from the original Baccara
songs, with Maria & Marisa's vocals over the top - making
this a virtually brand new CD. I know it's another hits
package, but this one is at least different vocally to
all the others. They have sound samples of everyone of
the songs, so you can listen to them all with Real Player.
I found it on amazon.de and it's very easy to find your
way around, even if you don't speak German. The interface
is the same here as it is on every Amazon site around
the world. I have ordered mine already!!

You have so much in your collection from Baccara. It is

I just bought those two Russian cd's with the 4 albums
from Baccara on 2 cd's. Very good quality!
But I was really disapointed to notice that some songs
are in short versions and they replaced even "For you"
for another version (not original from vinyl)
Did you know this?
Example:

on this cd 3:08 min.!!!
- "Koochie Koo" original 4:04 min
on this cd 3:31 min.

Dear Roman,
First of all, let me congratulate you for your wonderful
page. I think you're doing a great job and I encourage
all Baccara fans around the world to write and add news
about our girls.
The reason for my mail is to let you know that I had the
opportunity to see Baccara (Maria and Marisa) last night
(12th May 2002) performing in a gay-disco in Madrid.
It was with the occasion of the release of a Eurovision
Contest CD where they have included "Parlez-vous Français?".
They sang LIVE the remixes of "Yes Sir...", "Sorry I'm
a lady", "Parlez-vous...", but the surprises came when...
first Marisa sang "acapella" "La Vie En Rose" and then
they sang FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME AS THEY HAD JUST ARRIVED
FROM MUNICH (and it was not prepared, it was due to people's
insistence for MORE) a new song part of the new album
they have just recorded in Munich.
It was called "WOMAN IN LOVE" and it's a version of the
Barbra Streisand song, although with a funky beat and
rap interludes. It sounded absolutely great and people
were delighted.
They have recorded the new album with UNIVERSAL.
They were very funny making jokes about their age and
who looks older than the other and they made people sing
and dance like crazies !!!
I know there is a certain Juan Carlos from Spain as well
who thinks Maria and Marisa are not worth it as he seems
to be an exclusive fan of Mayte, however, let me tell
you that at least here in Spain the only BACCARA recognized
by the public right now are Maria and Marisa.
Mayte and Maria were together for 3 or 4 years only and
Maria and Marisa have been together for almost 20 years
now so who are the real Baccara then?
I have some records that are not in your discography yet
(such as the Maria Mendiola album "Born Again" in their
german and spanish versions with different covers and
tracks, the Maria single "Sugar Boom Boom" and some others).
I will try scanning them for you if you're interested.
Keep up the good work and write to me if you need any
additional information.

Hi Roman,

One is an edition of "Sorry, I'm
A Lady" released in Belgium and Holland.
The other one is the third maxisingle
by New Baccara, Maria and Marisa.
Last is the cover of a compilation
released in Spain this month (March 2002), a tribute
to the funniest and happiest artists of the 70s and 80s
in Spain and South America. Included is Carino, by Mayte
and Cristina.
In my next mail, I'll send you some pictures that I took
in the presentation party held in Madrid last week. The
audience was amazed when they saw Mayte, so glamourous
and pretty!!! All Spanish TV channels included an short
interview with her. All of this I owe it to my good friend
Joaquin Hurtado, Cadena Dial's co-ordinator (one of the
most important radio stations here in Spain). Our excellent
friendship has made it possible that Spain now knows the
real voice of Baccara.
This compilation will be promoted very soon in every TV
channel.

Hi Roman,
I encourage all Baccara fans around the world who enter
your page to send rare covers they may have found.
Browsing your Discography section, I've noticed that in
New Baccara, you've got some non-official compilations.
They are home-made compilations, made by fans, and they
may confuse some people.
So "More Gold" and "Back In Time" ARE NOT official releases,
so that's why they don't bear a catalogue number. They
are home-made CDs, recorded to swap among fans.
Here are some more covers to complete your Baccara discography.
The first one is "Colorado", B-side
"Mucho Mucho".
Second one is "El Diablo Te Mando
A Laredo" Spanish version, B-side "Somewhere In Paradise".
The third one is "Koochie-Koo",
B-side "Number One", single released in the Netherlands.
The fourth cover is the single "Parlez
Vous Française?", B-side "Love You Till I Die", released
in Spain after the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest, without
the festival's logo and with a different B-side, not "Amoureux",
which was the original release.
Then "Sorry, I'm A Lady", B-side

I am sending you some beautiful pictures (main
cover, back cover) of Baccara
(Maria and Marisa), taken from the cover of a big magazine
here in Spain!! I am sure that all the fans will love
them. They make some fantastic shows here in Spain with
the most wonderful and powerful dancing to make the people
scream!!!!!!!!
Also the cds here, Made In Spain, Face To Face and Lo
Mejor De Baccara have some brilliant songs on them, with
lots of breathing like the typical Baccara style!!!

Hi Roman,
Hello to all Baccara fans!
I've been reading many questions about the band, and they
mention some Gina T. Well, that Gina T has NEVER been
a member of Baccara.
Mayte, after breaking the duet, tried to come back, and
her first partner after Maria was Marisa Pérez -incredible,
innit? ;-)
As the project didn't develop, she tried with other partners,
such as Jane and, lately, Cristina, with whom she recorded
Baccara 2000. On the other hand, Maria took advantage
of the fact that Leon Dean introduced her to Marisa to
form Baccara again. Then, in 1987, they recorded the maxisingle
"Call Me Up / Fantasy Boy / Touch Me" with Luis Rodriguez
as a producer. Then the album "Fun", produced by Jimmy
Lean, former boyfriend of Maria's. Then, in Spain, they
recorded for Arcade two records, called "Made In Spain"
and "Face To Face", which didn't quite make it here in
Spain, although they were promoted in gay circuits and
magazines such as "Shanghai".
Their shows are very mediocre, and of very poor quality,
since she was never Baccara's singer. We've seen her in
verbenas "smalltown parties" and in gay venues in Torremolinos
(Malaga, Spain) with very little attendance.
I think this has affected the name of the duo, but fortunately,
we will always have the original voice, Mayte, whom I
adore.
