Hi, Roman and Baccara fans,
Last December 9th an official press conference was held to present the "MELODIEFESTIVALEN" (the greatest musical event in Sweden)
in Stockholm, where all the media took part. The great surprise was the duet BACCARA who, on request by Maria Moulin, manager of the Swedish
record company "Lion Heart Records", will defend the song "Soy TU Venus Por Esta Noche", specially composed for Maite and Cristina by Robert
Olausson, Robert Haboulin and Mats Jansson.
The first stage will be held at the "Skandinavium Arena" with a capacity for 18,000 people in the city of Gothenburg whcich is already sold out.
We wish BACCARA all the luck. We are sure they will be the evening's glamourous event.
Here's where we ask Swedish Baccara fans to support them and vote for them both in the pre-selection and final.
Good luck, Baccara. This will imply a very special comeback with a new record to be released in May 2004.

Big news for Baccarafans:
In Swedish newspaper it was announced in October that
among other Swedish artists like Alcazar, A*Teens, Antique,
Mayte and Cristina will take part in the Swedish prefinals
for Eurovision Song Contest with the following song:
Soy to Venus por esta noche
Writers & composers: Robert Habolin, Mats Jansson, Robert
Olausson
Possible participants: Baccara
Nothing, however, has been confirmed yet but it would
be great to see Baccara back on the Eurovision stage.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that they will make it
to the final !

I'ts been some time since we had any news from our divas.
They did a show in Malaga (Spain) on August 16th and they're
still travelling around Europe.
They have demoed new tracks, but they still have no recording
or release date yet.

After a long time again a little mail from me, Willem
from Holland, a big Baccara fan.
I still regularly visit your homepage and I really like
your Baccara website, it's the only Baccara website which
is kept up-to-date ! My compliments and please keep up
the good work for Baccara really deserves a website, don't
you think so?
Well, I just returned from my holiday in Spain and I found
this new compilation cd of Baccara!
It has just been released on the Divusca label (35-459)
this year in Spain and it is a cd from a series called:
''70's Los Anos Jovenes; Dias de Disco".
Several cds has been released in this series and one of
them is a very nice compilation cd of Baccara (Maria &
Marisa). The cd contains a some songs from their earlier
cds 'Made in Spain' (1999) and 'Face to Face' (2000).
The sleeve of the cd contains a beautiful picture of the
ladies in color ! see attachement.

I would like to ask you someting different:
on the Baccara website, at the part of Private pictures,
I discovered a big mistake. I saw my
picture (I sent you some years ago) with Maria
and Marisa from 1998 but my name is not mentioned but
the name of Marcus Lindqvist.
But It is me with the ladies and NOT Marcus Lindqvist
(I also sent him once this picture to put on his Baccara
website, the one which doesn't excist anymore, at least
not updated for years!). It is the picture with the no.:

Dear Roman,
There is another Christmas song by Baccara available.
On a compilation album with the title " Pop Christmas
" you can find the song "Hark! The herald angels sing"
sung by Marissa and Maria.
A bit strange is the fact that the compilation album is
released by BMG. As we all know this is the record company
of Baccara 2000!
The catalogue-number of " Pop Christmas" is 74321 71012

Hi Roman,
I just wanted to let you know that there was a Christmas
CD released in Spain in 1998 called JUNTOS EN NAVIDAD
(Together for Christmas) which included a Baccara song
"Feliz Navidad" (the same one recorded by Boney M or Jose
Feliciano).
Having in mind the CD was released by ARCADE plus the
voices in the song, I guess these are MARIA and MARISSA
but if someone has more information about this recording
I would appreciate it.
You can buy this CD at www.elcorteingles.es
choosing the sector "MUSICA" and then searching for the
key word BACCARA.
Another thing, in your discography you mention the B side
of Maria's spanish edition of Stupid Cupid as Hit ON The

On May 16th, 2003, all of us Baccara fans
are invited to Mayte Mateos and Cristina Sevilla's show
in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain), where
they will be the headliners on this year's Gay & Lesbian
Parade.
According to some information given to me by Mayte herself,
the show will include all of their classic tracks: "Yes
Sir, I Can Boogie", "Sorry, I'm A Lady", "Parlez Vous
Français?", "Darling", "The Devil Sent You To Loredo",
"Koochie-Koo", "Ay, Ay, Saylor", "Cara Mia" and many more.
There is the rumour that they will be performing a brand
new song, but it is only a rumour.
As for Mayte, I know for sure that she is as beautiful
as always, she still paints and not so long ago an exhibition
of her paintings was held. Just a couple of weeks ago,
Baccara did a show in Madrid, with the success we all
expected.

duo BACCARA.
You can include it on your website if you want to.
BACCARA's career started in 1977. Mayte Matheos (born
on March 7th, 1951), graduated as a teacher from the "Royal
Spanish Academy for Arts, Drama and Dance" in Madrid,
was selected to join the Spanish TV's Ballet Company and
perform with them for several years. There she met Maria
Mendiola (born on May 4th, 1952). The two of them decided
to quit the ballet company and start working independently
with their own show program. By accident -- or actually
more because of a mistake -- they got sent to a night
club as their first engagement. They sang and danced with
all their heart and soul, but a week later they were asked
to leave. "Too elegant", was the commentary of the night
club owner.
But Mayte and Maria didn't give up, they believed in themselves
and in their success. They found a stage for themselves
in the "Tres Islas" hotel on the Spanish island of Fuerteventura.
Very soon, their energetic and lively show program had
become the absolute highlight of the evening. "But we
also performed classic flamenco pieces", Mayte remembers,
"since 90 percent of the guests were from Germany. And
they loved to see the flamenco pieces."
And so did the employee of the RCA record company in Hamburg,
now BMG Ariola Hamburg GmbH. He was so fascinated by the
show on January 17th, 1977 that he spontaneously invited
Mayte and Maria to come to Hamburg. Roughly a month later,
the two arrived in Hamburg for first rehearsals with German
composer/producer Rolf Soja. The bosses at RCA were so
swept away by their talent and their voices that only
six days later their first single, "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie"
was recorded.
The song was an immediate hit! All the TV stations wanted
to include BACCARA in their program and do interviews.
In just eight weeks, BACCARA had climbed to the top of
the German charts. In no time at all, the whole world
lay at their feet. This was "Life in the Fast Lane"! From
Hongkong to Helsinki, BACCARA collected awards and prizes
for top positions in the charts like other people collect
stamps.
The follow-up single "Sorry, I'm A Lady" also topped the
German charts and in November 1977, BACCARA's first album
was released all over the world. Mayte & Maria represented
Germany at the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo on
November 11th, 1977 with the song "Mad In Madrid". In
January 1978, "Darling" was a hit-single in most European
countries. On April 22nd, 1978, BACCARA represented Luxembourg
at the Eurovision Song Contest with "Parlez-Vous Français?".
In the summer of 1978, BACCARA's second album, "Light
My Fire" was released. In January 1979, "The Devil Sent
You To Loredo" was a top ten hit in Germany. At the same
time, a compilation album "The Hits Of Baccara" was released.
"Body Talk" and "Ay, Ay, Sailor" were released as singles.
Both tracks were taken from the third album, "Colours"
which came out in the autumn of 1979.
Then, in 1981, things started to go wrong. Their new single
"Sleepy Time Toy" had to be called back from the retailers,
because Maria complained about her voice being underrepresented.
Maria got a lawyer to represent her claim against the
record company. She wanted the final mix to be changed.
"I was really baffled and didn’t know what was going on",
says Mayte. "Because it was my voice that had carried
BACCARA for most of the time. And that's the way it had
been for years."
But it became more and more clear that there was no hope
for a resolution with the record company and they stopped
their collaboration with producer/composer Rolf Soja.
BACCARA recorded a single "Colorado" and a fourth album,
"Bad Boys" with another production team. Both records
flopped. By then, Mayte & Maria decided to go separate
ways.

Baccara had GREAT show. Baccara was on stage almost 1
1/2 hrs.
They sang over 15 different songs and some song even TWICE!!!
Like that Eurovision song which took Finnish audience
wild and people came to dancs and clap their hands wild.
I was in front of them whole the concert and you can see
result by my taking photos.

I am sure all Baccara fans who read your pages will enjoy.
Baccara was demanded by audience many times back and so
they came back for extra songs two different times!!!
Baccara receivd some roses (see picture enclosed) and
one fan was able to sing a part of song when mayte gave
her microphone to him. This evening was really great,
a moment to remember.
I met Mayte and Christina after the concert. Christina
remembered me as I had met them in 1999 at the airport
in Finland and talked with them. I have great photos to
put to your Baccara pages. Baccara told me and the audiencethat
they will be on Finnish TV on 3.3.2003. Mayte told me
that they has a second concert in middle Finland in town
called Kuopio the following evening. (There they had great
concert last year in "Wine festival") Mayte told as a
news that they will come back to Finland this summer 2003
for some festival again!!!

I wonder if anyone could explain to me regarding the single

how can i get hold of it?
On which album did they release this single on? Was it

Well thats what i found out! Maria took the record company
to court as her voice couldnt be heared on the record,
so therefore the record company didnt want Maria and only
wanted Mayte!
It's all confusing to me! Could someone explain, please?
